Well, the second edition is definitely a work in progress. As we index, we're updating the text and adding more descendents and more information about them. As for the index itself, we're making an effort to index people not only under their "real" first name, but also under names they were commonly called in their lifetimes (Yes, you'll probably be able to find Uncle Buster indexed with the first name of Buster!!). We're adding place names, names of cemeteries, names of schools and colleges attended, military outfits, diseases, and churches. So the index is big and rapidly getting bigger. But we hope that the result will be an index that is useful not just to people interested in their Hotchkin genealogy, but people with interests in any of the other subjects we're indexing by. Let's see how it goes. Take a free look at the index as it is right now!! It's more than 100 pages long. It's big, and unless you have DSL or another form of "fast Internet" it may take a while to download.
(That's as of Wednesday, October 11, 2000, around 6 p.m. Eastern time). (Just as a note -- we have NOT seen an overwhelming demand for the finished Hotchkin product. If this family is of interest to you, the ball is in YOUR court. We have to know it, or we will spend our time on projects for which there is more demand. If you want us to work on the Hotchkins, you've got to tell us! THANKS!)

*If you don't have it yet ..... You're going to need Adobe Reader! If you don't have it already (most people do), click on the icon below to go to the Adobe Inc. web site to download the FREE Adobe Acrobat reader. It takes only a few minutes, and you will be able to read not only the documents on this site, but also such goodies as the IRS tax instructions! The version they currently provide for free download (version 4.05) also includes an "e-books" capability -- so why not try it out? Just click here: but don't forget to come back here after you've got Adobe Acrobat's FREE reader downloaded and installed on your computer.
