The Wyoming County chapter from Mather & Brockett's Geographical History of the State of New York (1848). This early gazetteer (compare it with French's Gazetteer, below) preceded French's by only a dozen years, but clearly represented another time in development of New York State. Interestingly, this chapter has four pages, compared with five for French's later volume. In addition to the four pages specifically about Wyoming County, we also include the section from Mather & Brockett dealing with land grants and patents in New York State. 4++ pages, in PDF format, download now for $2.25.
The Wyoming County chapter from French's Gazetteer of the State of New York (1860). French's is the authoritative gazetteer of New York State for the period immediately preceding the Civil War, and many subsequent gazetteers "borrowed" extensively from it.
