Here's some other Madison County material we own and will eventually publish:

  • Mrs. L. M. Hammond's History of Madison County, State of New York

(1872). This is one of the classic county histories of that period, covering a most interesting county, event by event and township by township.  One serious defect is the absence of an index.  At 775 pages in length, indexing it is a daunting task, but the process is now underway, and when this is complete it will have our index included.

  • The 1960 Cazenovian

This, of course, is the 1960 yearbook of the venerable (founded in 1824) institution now known as Cazenovia College, but in 1960 called Cazenovia Junior College.  While its use as a document of family history is fairly obvious -- and the photography is excellent, in case you are seeking a good picture of your mom or grandma as a young woman -- it is also one of the "last gasps" of an era when young women were not expected to complete four years of college, and for whom a job teaching nursery school or as a medical secretary was definitely something to aspire to as a life's work -- at least until marriage intervened (these were the two most popular career choices for members of the class of '60).  It's now scanned and we will be offering it as a download soon.

  • Madison County chapter from French's Gazetteer of the State of New York (1860).

  • Charity in Madison County in 1906 (from a 3 volume official source).

  • Historical Topographic maps of Madison County

  • The Paynes of Hamilton, by Augusta Francelia Payne White (1912) -- the genealogy of a prominent Hamilton, NY family.  245 pages, including index.
